Medha Godbole Mar 22, 2020
Well, in the midst of our everyday monotonous routine, come certain days where we can escape the need to look neat, and paint our faces with all the possible colors to suit a given theme.
The concept of face painting has existed in this world since the ancient times. We have always seen tribal folks adorning their faces with bold patterns, depicting their connection with a particular animal spirit or cult. In the modern world, face painting is one of the most sought-after activities in party themes and gatherings.
No, it is not just confined to Halloween anymore. Practically any occasion or social event can call for the need to come up with some interesting designs that can steal the limelight. Therefore, it becomes imperative to be loaded with a few good options that you can always count on, in times of need.
Have you imagined yourself in a scarecrow look? Have you ever thought of using simple and colorful elements and designs such as butterflies and stars for painting your face? Have you not wanted to look like your favorite superhero? Have you not thought of scaring your friends with a vampire-ish look?

Face Painting Ideas For Girls

This theme can be done in the most easiest way, or in a little detailed manner as well. But, no matter how you do it, it will always work like magic!
You can either use makeup and blend the richness of varied colors to form a multicolored butterfly, accessorized with temporary crystal stickers on the edge, or, use skin-friendly colors to paint your own butterfly.
A tad bit complicated approach would be to use both makeup and paint strokes to take the look to the next level.

This is perhaps one of the easiest things you can do at Halloween. Get hold of brown, white, and black paints that are safe to use on your face and get going.
You can draw stitches, artsy patterns, or just some plain bold lines on the face to complete the look of a scary scarecrow.

Yet another easily doable design would be that of a scary pumpkin. However, we think that no matter what, pumpkin never really looks scary, does it?
To get going with this, paint one or both your cheeks with bright orange color. Paint the eyes, nose, and mouth with black paint. To add an extra touch, you can include additional designs such as a spider web, broom, bats, etc.

Green-faced Witch

For this not-so-scary green-faced witch, you have to start with a green base. Have gruesome black lines on chin, cheek, lips, and eyes.
If you want, you can use a bright red (blood-like) color to paint your lips. Paint the eyebrows black and there you are adorning a classy witch look!

You need not be too hassled for this. Nor do you need those elaborate face painting kits. At the most you would need 4 colors to paint different-sized stars all over your face. We guess the examples given are self-explanatory.
For the additional glitter and glam, you can always use shiny shimmery glitters to increase the wow factor of the look.

Face Painting Ideas For Boys

A skull design is one of the most common-yet-intriguing patterns. Boys, be it young or old, always love gory, scary, and horrifying things! Therefore, this is especially dedicated to boys, and is quite apt for Halloween. Pretty simple to do really.
Paint your face white and use shades of black and gray to draw bold patches and strokes. The teeth outline can be done with light/dark strokes of black. For a bit of added oomph, use shimmering silver paint to get the teeth done.

Scary Mime

So after the deadly skull, we have the vampire; again, exclusively for the boys! But do not worry, though it may seem like a complicated task, it is not that difficult at all. Beginners can do it easily.
Paint the face white, as the base. Paint the lips bright red and draw fangs coming out of the corners of the lower lip, that is, if you don't have plastic fangs to complete this look. The outline for the fangs can be gray, the filling color white, and tip of the fangs red (denoting blood).

For clown face painting idea paint the face in any color, most likely white, green, or yellow.
Now, using a red or black paint, extend the outline of the mouth, bringing it all the way till the cheeks. Have rimmed white or black dimples at the ends. Then paint the eyes with black for that enlarged scary look. You are done!

There could be nothing as simple as this! Just blacken one eye and have a thin/medium mustache and beard drawn on the face.
May be you can have a tiny skull symbol on the cheek on the sides, or, on the chin.
Apart from this, you can embellish the pirate's face with anything you want to!

Superhero themes are quite popular when it comes to face painting.
And yes, if you are well-versed with drawing the pattern/logo of your favorite hero, this design shouldn't be a problem at all!
Even if you aren't that good with symmetry, you can always have an easy way out―just draw a mask around the eyes, wear a cape, and pose like you're about to fly!
Face painting may look a little intimidating at first, and that makes them a real catch as no one would be able to believe that they are so easy to do in the first place! As it is, we believe that anything artistic needs a lot of hits and misses.
When it comes to the aforementioned ideas, all you need is a couple of practice (maybe once or twice) and you'll be a pro before you know it! Have fun.
