History of Mosaic Art

The mosaic art is known to have a long history which dates back to the 3rd millennium BC. It was in Abra, Mesopotamia that the earliest traces of mosaic art were found. Influence of mosaic art can be seen on many civilizations across the world.
Geometric patterns of ancient times are found in a building in the Ubaid town of Mesopotamia. However, these patterns were not exactly mosaic and their earliest forms were first created in the times of Sassanid Empire.
